Frequently Asked Questions

Can I enter a photo showing multiple dogs? Yes, your photo may contain one dog or multiple dogs.

Can I enter a photo showing a human being along with my dog(s)? No, we’re sorry but please enter photos that only contain a dog or dog(s). Photos that are entered with humans will be automatically disqualified.

Does my dog need to be wearing Black Dog product, or does the photo need to show an item or clothing from The Black Dog? No, while we would love to see Black Dog product in your photo, it is not a requirement.

Does my photo and/or dog need to be a “Fall or Holiday” theme? No, neither your photo nor your dog(s) need to be in a "Fall or Holiday" theme for a chance to win a feature in our 2021 Fall/Holiday Catalog. We only ask your photo depicts in a manner that is consistent with our philosophy of living life “off the leash.”

My dog is not a black lab, black dog mix or a black dog. Can I still enter the contest? We love ALL dogs! We welcome all dog breeds, mixes, sizes and colors to enter the contest.

Do I have to be the guardian of the dog whose photo I want to enter? You do not have to be the guardian of the dog whose photo you want to enter; however, you must be the owner of the submitted image, or you will be required to obtain a signed release for the dog(s) shown in your photo and be authorized by the owner to do so.

Can I enter the contest through the mail, or by emailing you a photograph? We're very sorry, but the only way to enter the photo contest is through the process at https://www.theblackdog.com/pages/catalog-contest.

When is the last chance to enter the contest to be eligible to win? We will accept photos beginning on August 1st, 2021 at 12:01 am EST thru August 31st, 2021 at 11:59 pm EST. Enter between these dates and times to be eligible to win.

Who is eligible to enter the contest? The Black Dog Catalog Photo Contest is open and offered only to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who have reached the age of majority in the state of his/her residence as of start date of Promotion.

Can I enter even though I do not live in the United States? The Black Dog Photo Contest is open and offered only to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who have reached the age of majority in the state of his/her residence as of start date of Promotion.

What is my email address and mailing address used for? Contest participants can opt-in, separately, to receive new arrival alerts, special offers and events via email and direct mail catalogs from The Black Dog. If they choose to do so, they will be able to quickly and easily "opt out" of future such communications by following the instructions on any electronic communication we send. The Black Dog does not sell, rent, trade, or share its email addresses or mailing addresses with any third parties.

Do I have to pay to enter the contest? No, you do not have to pay to enter the contest.

When contacting us, please be specific about the technical problems you are having.

How will I know who won? When will I know who won? One winner will be notified after October 1st, 2021 but before October 21st, 2021. The winner will be announced publicly upon publication of The Black Dog 2021 Fall/Holiday Catalog. One (1) winning photograph will be selected for publication and gift card prize from among all eligible entries by a panel of judges selected by The Black Dog. The decisions of the judges are final and binding in all matters relating to judging this Promotion.
